Stone Mountain Village Unveils a New Era While Saying Goodbye to An Old Friend..

Thursday night at the Old Rock Gym in Stone Mountain Village was filled with a large crowd of locals. They were all filled with anticipation and enthusiasm. Yet there were mixed emotions when mayor Pat Wheeler announced that well loved Executive Director, Steve Wells would be stepping down after next Saturday's "Grillin' in the Village".

Stone Mountain Village is located at the base of Stone Mountain, the largest outcrop of Granite in the world. Though Stone Mountain Park is the largest tourism attraction in Georgia, the village has been in its shadows long enough. So, a face lift was in order to get well deserved attention from the public. There were well over a hundred folks who were treated to free tasty food and cold beverages before they would see the unveiling of the new signage for the city. There was also a free raffle and a raffle for a very nice grill next Saturday.

As Steve Wells put it, "Its time to change the way people think about our city". He acknowledged the out pour of love and support by the "Village Volunteers" . He said that, " This night could not have happened without the help from all of our volunteers. Mayor Wheeler added, "We know that all of you care about what we are doing because of the large turn out tonight. I know you all will love the beautiful design".

Then Mr. Ben of Arnett & Muldrow led the group of citizens through the re-branding process. He was very conscious of the warm conditions inside this historic gym, so he quickly enlighten the audience and unveiled the beautiful new signage, along with a new theme motto, before presenting tasty cakes with the new signage on them.

Steve Wells will be missed and his replacement will not be able to filled his shoes. All he/she can only hope to do is start befriending the citizens of the village the same way Steve has done for years during his tenure. Good Luck to both, STONE MOUNTAIN VILLAGE...Atlanta's Mountain Town and Mr. Steve Wells !
