IMPROVEMENTS COMING

SOON TO SIMONTON ROAD

(Lawrenceville, Ga., March 19, 2013) – The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners awarded a construction contract today for transportation improvements along Simonton Road in unincorporated Gwinnett County.

The project will improve visibility for vehicles entering Simonton Road from McCart Road and Simonton Glen Drive by lowering the hill between the two intersections. Plans also call for new sidewalks between Simonton Elementary School and nearby neighborhoods. The addition will result in a continuous ribbon of sidewalk on both sides of Simonton Road from New Hope Road to Madison Chase Way.

CMES Inc. was the lowest of six bidders at $974,629.50. Work is expected to be complete by late 2013 or early 2014. Funding for these improvements comes from the SPLOST sales tax program.
