Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Receives Awards
(Lawrenceville, Ga., Oct. 31, 2013) – The Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA), District 7 held its annual banquet at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse on Oct. 23, with Chairman Charlotte Nash welcoming the many parks and recreation agencies. Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation (GCPR) received the prestigious Agency Award for its accomplishments and programs. Phil Hoskins, Director of Community Services expressed how Gwinnett County residents are very proud of their parks system. “It takes a very dedicated staff to operate and manage quality programs, services and facilities through an economic recession.”
GRPA presented the Gwinnett Senior Golden Games with the Volunteer Award for their dedication and efforts in overseeing the operations of the games. This six-member Board averages more than 1,000 hours of volunteer service in a three-month time. The Facilities and Grounds Professional Award was presented to Matt Meeks for the exceptional job of maintaining more than 183 acres of parks. The Parks and Outdoors Professional Award was presented to Joe Pruitt for going above and beyond the call in maintaining a safe environment within the parks and providing great customer service. The Student award was presented to Lindsey Daniels who interned with GCPR, and provided support for identifying new partnerships and fostering existing ones.
