At 10am, 12noon, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm WRAS will be running presentations showing the charities work helping sick, injured and orphaned foxes and at the end of the presentation visitors will get to see one of WRAS's Fox Cubs. Booking is required and entry is for a minimum donation of 5 per person. Numbers are limited per session. The event is being held at WRAS's Casualty Care Centre on the A22 at Whitesmith near Hailsham, Uckfield and Lewes. To book please call 01825-873003 between 10am and 6pm. They wont necessarily get permission it isnt a foregone conclusion. It depends on whether the Supreme Court thinks there is any merit in further discussion about any of the very complicated legal points raised which have all been pretty thoroughly discussed during the two previous court cases. Our legal team is busy writing a response for the Supreme Court saying why we dont think permission should be given. This has to be submitted by next Tuesday (7th May). Were not sure at the moment how long after that the Supreme Court are likely to take to decide whether they want to hear the case. It is lovely to see some of the vegetated shingle plants starting to emerge at last, in a few weeks the whole area behind the beach will be a sea of colour once more, always worth seeing and appreciating. Also spotted was a pair of Ringed Plovers, obviously intending to breed if possible. We have a couple of breeding warning signs in place still and if visitors could avoid the area between the signs this would be much appreciated. Rescuer Robert and I collected them from Beachwood Vets in Seaford where they were assessed and then taken to WRAS carer Monica Russell who is now looking after them at her home in Eastbourne. Bob captained the 1st X1 for many years and was a very prolific scorer with his powerful left handed stance and often chipped in with wickets at crucial times with his left arm spin.He contributed greatly to the club on Committee, as a player and latterly as a Vice President. His contemporaries will have special memories of his fund of anecdotes and reminiscences and engaging personality. At the end of his long cricket career, he took up golf at Seaford Golf Club and became a most proficient and popular player.His funeral will be at St Leonards church at 2.30pm Thursday 14th February.
