My Next Door Neighbor Was Superman

From Overland Park, Kansas

By Marcus Austin, National OurTown News Editor,

Superman was also known as Clark Kent. However, I know Superman as Todd Trimble. Todd grew up next door to me in Kansas City. He was about 8 years younger than me and since he was an only child he was kind of like a little brother. That's why I sicked my dog on him and Todd would have to jump to get away. Little did I know, but Todd was jumping into a phone booth.

Todd went to Southeast High School. It was a track meet in 1989 when Todd "flew" into history. Todd broke the Missouri High School Long Jump Record with a jump of 26-01.50. The record still stands today, 25 years later! The record may never be broken. The winning jump at the Missouri state track meet in 2014 is nearly 4 feet short of Todd's record jump. As a matter of fact, Todd's jump is the 6th longest in high school, nationally! Todd went on to star at Ohio State and made it to the Olympic Trials finals in the men's long jump in 1992. Congratulations Todd, for maintaining your record 25 years. I believe It's about time for you to be enshrined into the Missouri High School Hall Of Fame!
