Dirk Nowitzki had 27 points and 9 rebounds in his return to the Dallas lineup, and J. J. Barea added 22 points for the Mavericks, who had won six of seven.

Portland, which lost center Greg Oden for the season Saturday with a knee injury, began a four-game trip Monday in New York with just nine healthy players.
