WINTHROP

WYBJ Concert fundraiser will help Winthrop Youth Center – The Winthrop Youth Center will open this October at the former site of Kathy’s Place.  To partially fund the center, there will be a concert, aptly named The Winthrop Youth Band Concert held on Sunday October 5th.  The start time is 3:00pm and the location is at the Temple on Veteran’s Road.  The door fee is $5 and the money will go to fund the youth center.  I’m told the music will include “lots of good rock and roll songs.”

MELROSE

The $.50 Free Press decided it was time to “press up” – Shocking isn’t it when someone tells you the facts…four weeks in advance…and you get to see them develop for yourself.  The fact is you folks in Melrose got to see the truth a lot quicker than most of the communities I write in.  In Revere it took almost a year for some stories to develop and play themselves out, in Winthrop it’s taken about 6 months for my stories to develop, in Melrose it only took about a month.  I love it when things fall into place.  I received an e mail from a few folks telling me that the Melrose $.50 FREE Press printed three stories I gave to you weeks ago.  The first being The Liquor Commission, the next being the Wendy Golini liquor license scam and her subsequent resignation from the School Committee, and lastly the Scenna investigation.  One e mail stated,

“Richie; The Mayor of Melrose must be finally taking you serious.  This week in the free press it has liquor board appts, Golini resignation, and Scenna investigation by city atty.  You reported all this weeks ago and it was just released to other papers this week.  Keep up the good work in Melrose.  Lot's more to be made public.

Yes I did, but I will always give credit where credit is due…my sources.  What this revelation by the FREE Press should signify is that the people of Melrose now have an option, a place to vent, and a place to be heard.  To the folks I spoke with regarding the trash fees and the documents you gave me, I haven’t forgotten you…my attorney is looking at them still, it may take some time, but I believe there is a class action starring Mayor Dolan in the face.  And to my friend who sent me the Golini, Bucci transcripts and several other pages of interesting documents, thank you…it is because of people like you and my friend NORTH OF THE BORDER, that I am able to do what I enjoy doing; flushing out bad leaders.

REVERE

Recall petition will be circulating very soon – Last night I was out having dinner when I ran into a friend who showed me the first draft of the “recall petition.”  As I said the other day, the people spearheading the drive to recall Mayor Ambrosino are planning a huge recall rally on City Hall very soon, yet the date is unknown.  My belief is that they will rally sometime near or on Election Day.  “You won’t believe some of the people who’ll be holding signs,” our source said, “they are very influential, and when the Mayor sees them, I think he’ll be very disappointed.”  The source also said that Tommy is working a deal where he’ll get a state position, “but he won’t be leaving until sometime around January or February of 2009.  Just this week, Ambrosino made an announcement that Revere is going to be in trouble come 2010.  Whew Tom dodged a bullet there huh guy.  Lucky you’re not going to be here when the crap hits the fan.  And you know Tom, I never impede a good plan, so in this case I offered the services of this website that you say no one reads, except of course for the 23,000 weekly views we register, and what I’ve decided was that I will post the petition in a PDF format, free of course, (we’ll write it off as a public service to my community) for anyone to print out.  While we know on line registering is not yet available, we aalso know that simply printing out a copy, signing it in the appropriate places and then either sending it to or taking it to one location or one person is legal.  So, please don’t thank me Tom, I’m just doing my civic duty like everyone else.

The "Free Press" is actually $1.00! Thank you, Mr. Ireton, for the very important service you are providing to our community. Finally there is a venue for citizens to learn about the truth without the blatant censorship and political bias of Carol Brooks Ball, editor of that useless and expensive newspaper, formally of record and once considerable note. Gateway News needs to reign her in before readership diminishes further....

Although not currently sleeping in REVERE, I am always interested in how Revere tax money is being spent.I have mixed feelings about the potential recall of the Mayor. I sincerely believe that he is a decent guy. However, he has made several bad decisions. Not that I haven't either. The Mayor is a Harvard grad. But many taxpayers in Revere are suffering while some city councillors are oblivious to their pain. I would like to see a legitimate debate on a recall election not only for the Mayor but also for a few city councillors at large who have no respect for the taxpayers and people in the private sector. The people of Revere deserve a fair and unbiased forum where arguments pro and con could be given for the proposed recall election.
