Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball standout Casse Mogan has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Mogan, a senior guard from Circleville, Ohio, averaged 31 points and shot 67.6 percent from the field to lead the Norse to a pair of GLVC wins last week. She poured in 33 points with four steals and two blocked shots during a 71-68 win over Indianapolis on Thursday.
Mogan also blocked a potential game-winning shot in the closing seconds of that contest, made two free throws to give NKU a 71-68 edge and stole the ball on Indianapolis' final possession.
On Saturday, Mogan scored 29 points, grabbed nine rebounds, blocked three shots and added five steals as NKU posted a 69-55 win over Saint Joseph's. For the week, she was 23-for-34 from the field and 12-for-13 from the free-throw line. Mogan now has 1,476 career points, which is seventh in school history.
This marks the first time in 2011-12 an NKU player has received the weekly honorfrom the GLVC. Mogan was also named GLVC Player of the Week once during herjunior season.
NKU is 18-5 overall, 11-4 in the GLVC. The Norse will travel to Owensboro, Ky., on Thursday night to face Kentucky Wesleyan at 6:15 p.m. NKU returns home next Saturday to meet Southern Indiana at 1 p.m.
