According to the Lake Ridge Elementary August newsletter, the crosswalk at Locust and Rain Tree will not have a crossing guard to help children cross the street before and after school.  To help ensure the safety of our children, the school district has provided bus pick up and drop off at that intersection.

However, there are still many children crossing the street from the Rain Tree subdivision on a daily basis.  The speed limit on Locust is 35 mph, which means most cars are traveling at least 40 mph, making crossing at the intersection considerably dangerous.

If there is any parent or person willing to volunteer their time at this crosswalk to help children cross safely, it would be greatly appreciated.  Lake Ridge Elementary is willing to provide any volunteer with a sign and a safety vest.
