The City of Nampa is one of just 67 cities in the nation to be designated as a Playful City USA Community. The designation was awarded by KaBoom!
Nampa is celebrating the designation in three ways on Saturday, September 27:
1. Mayor Tom Dale will proclaim Saturday, September 27 “Nampa Play Day”;
2. St. Luke’s Idaho Elks Rehabilitation Services (SLIERS) will present new playground equipment to the City of Nampa and offer the community a free picnic and other activities in Lakeview Park;and
3. The City will offer some exciting ways to get out and play as a family. The idea behind Play Day is to encourage people to get out regularly and enjoy some unstructured fun individually or as a family.

Part of the reason Nampa was selected by KaBoom! as a PlayfulCity is because of the Nampa Play Task Force established by Nampa Parks & Recreation. This Task Force is made up a talented and diverse group of community leaders concerned with opportunities for play for young people. The collaboration among a variety of community partners ensures a strong emphasis on the importance of play and promoting play in Nampa.
