Hunting Season is Here, Our Town Nampa Has Proof

From Nampa, Idaho

I was cruising down 12th Avenue Road today, minding my own business.  I pulled up to the light next to an old timer in a white pickup.   That’s not too out of the ordinary. But I can tell you this, you can tell hunting season is in the air.

Hunting season is when every local in our state adorns their head with the official hunting head gear, a camouflage base ball cap.  Hunting season is when you see men wearing overalls to Walmart to shop for shot gun shells.  Hunting season is when you see groups of men push a cart through the grocery store and fill it full of every food and drink that their wives wouldn’t dare let them have, if of course, it wasn’t hunting season.  It’s a yearly right of passage.

But here’s a new one.  Apparently, hunting season is when you attach a mechanical plastic buck with a big red bull’s eye on its belly to your trailer hitch and connect it to your car battery.  When you drive down the street, its front hooves go up and down.  It was the funniest thing I have seen in Nampa, Idaho in at least a week!

I would love to know where that guy found that mechanical deer.  I’m sure I’ll see a lot more wackiness before November and December, but thank goodness I had a camera phone with me.  This is classic.  Happy Hunting Season!

That is hilarious. I am a hunting widow starting in two weeks. I'm going to get that for my husband.
