Who Says Nampa Has Gone Metro

From Nampa, Idaho

It is only obvious to those of us that have lived in Nampa for an extended length of time that our fair city is growing by leaps and bounds.  If you do any kind of population growth research online, you will see the staggering statistics.  Wikipedia states that the population of Nampa was 28,365 in 1990.  According to the U.S. Census Bureau online, the population of Nampa, was 64,269 in 2000.

Here is a shot of valley growth from the hill at Midland and Greenhurst.

If you go to different blogs and discussion boards on the internet you will see that Idahoans have varying opinions about the growth explosion.  I am not here to debate the pros and cons about the influx of new citizenship.

If it’s rural homes, farmland, fields and down home goodness you are missing, I am here to let you know where you can find it.  Even though Nampa has grown up, we still have a lot of small town goodness left to enjoy.

I drove from Highway 55 at Farmway, along the back roads of Nampa and Caldwell and found a few interesting shots that I think all people who live in Nampa, Idaho will like.

If you pay close attention. There are still some old farm houses scattered in the outskirts of Nampa. I love to take photos of the old buildings and preserve their images.

This is a picture of farm taken from Midway Road in rural Nampa.

South Nampa has some quaint offerings for those looking for rural scenery:

Wild growth along Greenhurst road before Midland in Nampa, This may be in Nampa city limits. I took a walk along the perimeter of Hunter's Point and thought this was a pretty shot.

Taken at the pond in front of Rain Tree subdivision. This little group of ducklings were all huddled up together.

If you drive Midland Road past the city limit sign, and go maybe twenty feet, you will run into rural Nampa.

 Lake Lowell from Midland Road.

Sprinkler piping lining the fields of a farm that bordered Lake Lowell off of Midland Road in Nampa.  This country shot is about thirty seconds outside of city limits.

I found this horse tire swing in one of the older subdivisions right out of city limits in Nampa.

I took this shot off of Locust.  The owners of this property were flood irrigating and I thought that was a trust testament that we are still rural in Nampa.

This little windmill caught my eye.  The house was a simple farm house.  They have land behind them, and the only decoration in their front yard was this windmill.  I thought it was the epitome of country.

I took this picture right as dusk was setting in.  This is a farm right off the Lake Ridge Elementary school grounds in Nampa.

This is a shot of the view from the new elementary school in Nampa. Lake Ridge Elementary is surrounded on all sides by stunning rural beauty.

Please enjoy my photos and please feel free to email me any pictures of places that I should visit and share with others who live in our city.
