The City of Nampa is looking for about 150 volunteers to rake up the yards of elderly and the disabled. Rake Up Nampa will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2008, beginning 9:00 am and finishing by noon.
Businesses, churches, civic groups, schools and neighborhood organizations are encouraged to form volunteer teams. The suggested size for a team is about ten people. There are usually 20 to 25 seniors or disabled residents who need and appreciate the help. Team applications are due by November 7, 2008
Residents can apply now to receive the assistance by calling 468-5473. Those seeking
help must be over 60 and/or be disabled, own and live in the home requiring raking assistance, and be unable to afford help. Family or friends may also call on behalf of a person they know could benefit from the assistance. Candidate applications are due by November 3, 2008.
