MACC Charities announces new store: Through a generous business decision by Nadine Romay (former owner of Inspirations), MACC Charities now owns and operates this lovely store. It is managed by “Friends of MACC”, volunteers who take no salary in return for their gift of time. ALL proceeds from the store after rent and ancillary operating expenses will go back to the mission of MACC Charities to fund its programs and services that help individuals and families in the greater Manchester area with emergency food, clothing, shelter and advocacy. MACC helps thousands of men, women and children each year cope with financial and medical emergencies such as homelessness, hunger, house fires and loss of jobs, devastating diagnoses of cancer and chronic illnesses that cripple, maim or disable its victims, domestic violence, evictions, mental illness and addictions. Inspirations is located at 65 East Center Street, Manchester, (860) 643-9884. Hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00p.m.

Senior Homeowner's Tax Relief Program

This program is open to qualified homeowners who are age 65 as of Dec. 2008, or Social Security disabled. The application dates are 2/1/2009 through 5/15/2009. Application can be made weekdays from 8:20 AM to 4:40 PM at the Office of Assessment & Collection in Town Hall, 41 Center St. Income limits apply, and proof of your CalendarYear 2008 income is required. Call 647-3016 for further info. A presentation and informational session regarding the Homeowner's Program and other benefits available to senior taxpayers will be held at the Manchester Senior Center on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 10:00 AM.
