Free program about William Gillette at Manchester Community College 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 20, in the MCC SBM Charitable Foundation Auditorium. William Hooker Gillette (1853-1937) originally from Nook Farm, Hartford, Connecticut, was a major stage actor and playwright in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, famous for his role as Sherlock Holmes. The MCC Organization of Active Adults presents Harold Niver, portraying and describing Gillette. The public is invited.
 

AM 1630 on your Radio: The Town of Manchester operates a licensed AM emergency advisory radio station at 1630 kilohertz. In addition to weather forecasts the radio system is designed to provide noncommercial voice information relating to local travel (traffic information, road conditions, construction, parking, road closures or hazards and directions), safety information that would be useful to a motorist as he travels, information and interpretation about local area features (parks, natural beauty, wildlife, traditions, character, historic facts or economic development), schedule of events for the city, public service announcements and, naturally, emergency management information.
