Dr. Sendy Wilburn received her Bachelor of Science degree in Early childhood/Middle School Education with a concentration in science and language arts from Brenau University in Gainesville Georgia. She earned her Masters of Science degree in Foundation of Education from Troy State University in Phoenix Alabama. Dr. Wilburn earned her Specialist degree in School Counseling and a Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology both from Argosy University in Sarasota Florida.
Dr. Wilburn has taught 5th grade elementary school students for Dekalb County School Public School System for two years, then moved to teach 7th and 8th grade middle school students for Dekalb County Public School System for six years and taught 10th and 11th grade high school special needs students for Dekalb County Public School system for two years.
She has an overwhelming special interest in children and adolescents development.
Dr. Wilburn enjoys creating and presenting lessons to students and working with students one-on-one and in small groups. She is dedicated to ensuring that all students who she comes in contact with have a positive academic, personal/social and successful middle school experience.
After ten years of teaching, Dr. Wilburn has decided to take advantage of her counselling degrees, and persue a career incounselling psychology.
Through her education and training, she has developed the passion and skills for working with individuals from backgrounds that are both similiar and different from her own.
Dr. Wilburn is most interested in working with families, childrens and adolescents who are suffering from a major depression disorder, anxiety disorder, symptoms related to trama, posttramatic stree disorder and server present-day stressors, and conflicts that affect family unity.
She plans to use (Personal-Centered), Cognitive behavioral therapy, and Family System Therapy in individual and group settings for the treatment of families, children and adolescents.
Dr. Wilburn seek to work in a variety of settings, including counselling centers, juvenile probation centers, university counsellingcenters, children hospitals, middle schools, and Georgia based private practices.
Dr. Wilburn's Mission is to assist individuals, adolescents and families in reducing conflict in relationships, change distressing circumstances, identify challenges, enhance insight, and develop new tools to better manage life's challenges.
