About Ourtown Own A Town Sign In

Independence Day Rock the Block

From Las Vegas, Nevada - The Strip

Rock the Block
Fremont Street July 4th, 2008

Fremont Street was the place to be for the 4th of July this year! Even in the 109 degree heat, people packed the street to watch some great music, celebrate the 4th, and just have a good time. My buddy Alan, at the new Fremont Street Guitar was glad to give everyone a chance to check out their new shop across the street from the Beauty Bar and give tours the entire day.

Lydia Vance started out the event at about 6PM in the full heat of the day. They tore it up onstage and were soaking wet when the finished. I have seen and photo’ed Lydia Vance before and it is great to see a band here in town that seems to get better and better at every show. I even got a couple great pics of them signing autographs for some very young fans.

Otherwise came on next. I have seen these guys atleast 10 times and hopefully 100 more. I never get tired of them. Adrian, the lead singer, looked great with the new beard! This may have been the biggest show for Otherwise so far, but I see them playing a lot larger shows in the near future.

Everlast was next, right when the sun began to set and the day turned into a perfect warm Vegas summer night. When they began their song that is usually a duet with Carlos Santana, Put Your Lights On, every person I looked at were singing the words to it.

By the time Taproot hit the stage, there must have been 3000 people down on Fremont for the show!! Even the guys in Taproot were impressed by the turnout and I am willing to bet they will be playing here again very soon! Honestly, I only knew one song by Taproot before the show began, but by the time the show was over, I knew I Had to get the album. These guys are amazing.
