Deaton, son of Brenda and James Deaton, is a member of Southwesterns Distinguished Honor Roll, Junior National Honor Society and plays football, basketball and track.

Claiborne was nominated by Eric VandeVoorde, director for student life, development and leadership at Ivy Tech Lafayette.

Martin will graduate from Ivy Tech in May. Through volunteering, and taking part in several organizations, Martin sought out to achieve his goals.
LAFAYETTE Beatriz Pacheco, a student leader at Ivy Tech Community College, is OurTown.coms Student of the Month. Pacheco, nominated by Ivy Tech administrator Andrew Antonio, is a Student Ambassador at Ivy Tech and president of the colleges Latino Student Union.

Antonia Hinds, an incoming freshman at Lafayette Jefferson High School who was a straight-A student at Tecumseh Jr. High School is OurTown.coms Student of the Month for August. Antonia was a cheerleader and member of the Flag Corps and choir at Tecumseh and wants to pursue the same interest at Lafayette Jeff.
