Indiana Youth Sports opens to youth

From Lafayette/ West Lafayette, Indiana

WEST LAFAYETTE – The Indiana Youth Sports, a new nonprofit organization run by the Family Sports Center, will host an open house and grand opening Friday, Sept. 7 at 3 p.m., at 3242 W. 250 N.

Greater Lafayette Commerce will host a ribbon cutting event to kick off the open house weekend. Indiana Youth Sports founder, DuShaun Goings, brings life to this organization with his vision to ensure that youth have access to recreational and competitive sports programs.

“I learned most of my respect for others on a sports field/court/area and I want to ensure that the youth within Greater Lafayette have access to the same mental, physical and social expiriences I did through recreation and competitive sports settings,” says Goings.

The program is in its infancy but partnering with Tom Mills, owner of the Family Sports Center, the most need resource, the facility itself, is a natural fit. Indiana Youth Sports will provide opportunities for basketball, soccer, gymnastics and more.

The programs will be during evening hours of 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and during the summer months from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, contact Goings at dlgoings@yahoo.com or 847-721-2236.
