High school football hits midway point

From Lafayette/ West Lafayette, Indiana

LAFAYETTE – Greater Lafayette high school football hits the midway point as teams start to position themselves for the post-season.

The biggest surprise is that Lafayette Central Catholic will be trying to bounce back from a regular season loss in three years. The Knights had their 48-game winning streak snapped against Culvers Academies 14-12 after a failed two-point conversion in the game’s final minute.

The Knights, ranked No. 2 in Class A, will play at Benton Central, that last team to have beaten Central Catholic in the regular season before the Culver Academies game. The Bison (1-3) is coming off a close 28-21 loss last week to West Lafayette, ranked No. 9 in Class 3A.

West Lafayette, 3-1, will be at home against a undefeated Tipton (4-0), which is ranked No. 5 in Class 2A.

In the Hoosier Crossroads Conference, Lafayette Jeff (2-2) travels to Hamilton Southeastern (2-2) and McCutcheon (1-3) will travel to Noblesville (1-3). Harrison (0-4) will be looking for its first victory in several seasons against No. 11-ranked Fishers (3-1).
