LAFAYETTE – Wabash Center was nominated for the 2012 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.
The award was created to publicly recognize employers who provide exceptional support to their Guard and Reserve employees and is the highest recognition given to employers by the Department of Defense.
Wabash Center was nominated for this award by Jennifer Gray, who serves with the Army National Guard. Gray works as a direct support professional providing in-home residential supports to individuals with disabilities and special needs. Jennifer has worked at Wabash Center since 2005.
The mission of Wabash Center is to optimize the quality of life for people with disabilities or special needs. Founded in 1953, Wabash Center’s divisions include Adult Day Services, providing rehabilitation and vocational training, counseling and case management; Assisted Living Services, offering group homes, supported living, and in-home services; Greenbush Industries, where adults perform work contracted from area businesses; and EmployAbilities, offering employment services for people with disabilities and special needs.
