LAFAYETTE – When school is out for summer vacation, millions of children across the nation lose access to the free and reduced‐price meals they receive during the school year. Food Finders is working to bridge that gap through the 2012 ConAgra Hunger Free Summer Program which was created to serve nutritious meals to children (ages 2-18) when the National School Lunch Program is not available.
So far, the ConAgra Hunger Free Summer Program is feeding an average of 520 kids a day at over 38 sites in nine counties. In addition to daily lunches being served, special guests will visit several of the sites throughout the summer, to add extra interest and excitement for the children in the program. West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis and Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski will be visiting the following sites on the dates listed:
June 18: Mayor Roswarski will visit Cambridge Apartments (noon–1 p.m.)
June 19: Mayor Roswarski will visit Claystone Apartments (12:45–1:45 p.m.)
June 20: Mayor Dennis will visit Chapel Gate Apartments (noon–1 p.m.)
June 21: Mayor Roswarski will visit Columbian Park – Green Shelter by the cove (11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.)
