WEST LAFAYETTE – From May 3-18, the City of West Lafayette will again place roll-off rubbish containers at select locations in and around the New Chauncey Neighborhood.
The program, for use by West Lafayette Residents only, was designed to aid in helping manage the excessive amount of household debris generated from the Fall and Spring move out periods and was deemed highly successful during its implementation last fall.
To complement the successful roll off program a new dynamic will be introduced in the form of a collaborative partnership with Goodwill Industries of Indiana.
Goodwill Industries will host three manned collection sites on May 4th, 5th and 6th. Useable household items can be donated to Goodwill Industries for redistribution and reuse. The collection sites are located at 403 Russell St. (corner of Fourth and Russell streets), Crestview Apartments parking lot at 337 South Chauncey, south of the Williams Street Intersection) and at the Burtsfield Center located at 1800 North Salisbury (corner of Lindberg Road and Salisbury Street). Donations to Goodwill will only be accepted during the hours of operation from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Examples of acceptable items are gently used clothes, working electronics and household items. Persons may be directed to nearby roll off containers to discard items deemed unacceptable for donation to Goodwill Industries.
Prohibited items for the roll off containers include refrigerators, freezers, humidifiers, explosives, hazardous waste, tires, paint grass, dirt, brush, gravel, sod, brick, concrete, antifreeze, fertilizer, pesticides or flammables.
