LAFAYETTE -- Nancy S. Eberhard, M.Div., the bereavement coordinator for St. Elizabeth Hospice, presented at the Association for Death Education and Counseling’s national conference on March 31.
The conference was held in Atlanta on March 28 to 31. Eberhard’s presentation, "Grief Healing through Spiritual Stories," is about the inspirational experiences that occur with families at the end of life and also during the time of grief that follows. Eberhard gave examples of how these stories can bring healing to people as they share them with friends and families and in group dynamics, such as grief support groups. Eberhard feels that not only do these beautiful stories help people in grief, but they also help us face the fear of death, allowing us to live better lives.
Eberhard gives presentations on such topics including “Facing Your Fears,” “How to Support Grieving Friends,” “Why Hospice?” and “Grief: What To Say, What Not To Say.” Nancy has been a regular speaker at the Kathryn Weil Center for Education, local churches, civic groups and retirement communities. She presents retreats on “Hearing God's Voice: How Does God Speak to You?” and “The Spirituality of Grief.” Eberhard also leads the 10-week grief support groups for St. Elizabeth Hospice.
