LAFAYETTE -- Tippecanoe Arts Federation held its annual Bravo for the Arts Tuesday, (Oct. 9) to a sold out crowd.
Reed and Company received the 2012 Bravo Award for their outstanding contributions to the arts throughout the state. The prestigious John Corey Award went to Bonnie Zimmer for her dedicated service to the arts as an esteemed arts educator, arts volunteer, and highly regarded visual artist.
The Bravo for the Arts event brings together legislators, business owners and employees, arts administrators, artists, and community volunteers to celebrate all those who create and support the arts. The event was made possible through the generosity of Duke Energy, Four Points by Sheraton, musicians Harriett Coppoc and Sharron Howard, and Indiana artist Diana May.
The event began with a welcome address by emcee Jason Bennett. The event highlights included a proclamation of National Arts and Humanities Month from State Rep. Shelia Klinker, State Sen. Ron Alting, State Rep. Randy Truitt, West Lafayette councilwoman Vicki Burch, and councilman Steve Meyer and a keynote address by Dr. Doug Borwick.
Borwick is the author for the blog Engaging Matters, as well as the author and editor for the book Building Communities, Not Audiences: The Future of the Arts in the U.S. Doug gave a passionate and engaging talk about the intrinsic value of the arts in their ability to catalyze communities.
