LAFAYETTE -- A little more than two months ago the collections committee and the board of directors of the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette made an appeal to members of the Art Museum to help with the purchase of an important cast bronze sculpture by artist, Preston Jackson to be acquired for the permanent collection.
The response has been overwhelming and the museum reports that it has received more than $15,500 in gifts and pledges toward the purchase of the sculpture titled, Julieanne & T. J. Boykin.
Funds provided by the Mickey Shook Memorial Fund will be used to complete the $18,000 purchase. The sculpture is on display in the Louis A. Weil Permanent Collection Gallery. A permanent display stand will be created for it this summer.
