LAFAYETTE – Danielle Demerly, an honors graduate at Lafayette Jefferson High School who will be attending Butler University, in Indianapolis, in the fall, is OurTown.com’s Student of the Month for July, 2011.

Danielle was the drum major for Jeff’s marching band and a member of the school’s show choir. She graduated in the top 10 percent of her class with a grade point average of 3.875.

“I will miss not only my friends but the band as well,” Danielle said. “We had a family atmosphere in the band.”

Danielle said her parents, Karen and Jeff Demerly, were her greatest influences while at Jeff.

“They supported me in whatever I wanted to do, whether it was being drum major or getting my first job,” Danielle said.

Danielle said she has not decided what to major in at Butler, but wants either teach or do something in connection with mathematics. She said she hopes to continue singing there as well.
