Sagamore West Farmers Market opens May 4

From Lafayette/ West Lafayette, Indiana

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Sagamore West Farmers Market opens for its seventh season on Wednesday, May 4, at 3 p.m.

The weekly fresh-air market will be held in Cumberland Park off Salisbury Street every Wednesday from 3-6:30 p.m. through Oct. 26.

“Market plans include grilling demonstrations, a bicycle-to-the-market day, Purdue Day, local musician performances, and a ‘Feed Your Body and Mind’ partnership with the West Lafayette Public Library that will offer family and youth programs,” said returning Market Master Denise Dorsey-Zinn.

Dozens of returning and new vendors have signed on.

“Their products are primarily grown, made or produced in Indiana by the vendor, and range from fresh produce and meat to herbs, flowers, baked goods, food crafts, original art, crafts and jewelry,” Dorsey-Zinn said.

Weekly wine tastings continue, and expanded take-out options and new seating areas allow shoppers to eat onsite or take ready-to-eat food home.

Free Sagamore West Farmers Market tote bags, featuring a beet, will be given to shoppers on their third market visit, while supplies last.

Future events and activities will be posted at www.westlafayette.in.gov/farmersmarket  and the Sagamore West Farmers Market Facebook page. Sagamore West Farmers Market is sponsored by West Lafayette Parks and Recreation.
