Democrats again are doing all they can to help this country out of the worst recession in decades and again, Republicans are doing all they can to stop it.
Last week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) brought to the floor a $30 billion small business lending bill that would help small businesses get the much needed loans they need to jump start hiring.
Big banks are not helping, consumers aren't buying enough to improve business' future outlooks to begin hiring and unemployment remains at 9.5 percent.
These factors have left the Democratic majority no choice but to produce a bill that would help. Republicans have been trying to convince the American people Democrats aren't doing enough to encourage job growth. Yet, when it came to something that would help they said, nope, we can't support that.
I don't know if they realized by helping the Democrats pass it, they wouldn't have a case to make anymore or if they truly want this country to fail so they can blame it on President Barack Obama and the Democrats, but it's simply ridiculous.
This “just say no” obstructionist strategy is getting old and irritating. Then again, that has been the Republicans' strategy ever since President Obama was elected.
Reid should bring the small business bill to the floor every day. This is something the American people need and bringing it to the floor would either force the Republicans to budge or be the nail in their coffin.
Between this and voting against unemployment benefits and voting against helping small businesses, a 7-day voting strategy on this bill could be just what it takes to push people over the edge against the Republicans and for the Democrats as the party who truly wants to help put America in the right direction.
