The Volunteer Center is seeking a volunteer to assist with a community member with grocery shopping. This person would need transportation and would like to go on the 2nd of every month.
The Volunteer Center is also looking for a volunteer who is willing to help mow a disabled senior citizen’s lawn for the summer in West Lafayette. The volunteer would need to bring their own mower.
The American Red Cross needs volunteers to provide transportation for local veterans and other individuals to out-of-town medical appointments. Volunteer drivers would provide this service during office hours Monday- Friday in a Red Cross vehicle making one trip a week on average. These trips are scheduled in advance and typically go to Indianapolis, Marion or Danville.
The American Cancer Society is in need of a volunteer to assist with data entry. This position requires 2-4 hours per week to assist with data entry for memorial donations and various other computer-related volunteer tasks. Data entry experience is helpful but we are willing to train the right volunteer.
The Friends of Columbian Park Zoo is seeking approximately 30 volunteers for the 7th annual Zoo Run-Run which will take place on July 18th. Volunteers may help with registration, race “traffic” direction or other similar duties. Volunteers will be needed from 7:45 am until 10:00 am and will receive a t-shirt, a one-day pass to Tropicanoe Cove and a fabulous pancake breakfast!
The Community Cancer Network needs volunteers to be drive patients to and from treatment. Drivers transport patients from their area and are scheduled on specific days to make it easier on the volunteer. Tasks include: personal shoppers to do specific shopping and errands for patients too weak to do it themselves, delivery people to bring groceries or supplies to patients at their homes, stockroom help and event hosts and hostesses.
The Lafayette Urban Ministry Homeless Shelter needs summer volunteers. Tasks will vary.
Your help is needed in the fight against hunger in our community! Food Finders Food Bank is seeking volunteers to sort food items, donated from local merchants. Morning and afternoon shifts available. This would be a great opportunity for groups or organizations, as well as individuals.
Mental Health America is searching for 15 individuals to volunteer with the Compeer Program. Be friends with a socially isolated individual recovering from a mental health challenge. Friends go to free or low cost activities together 1 hour a week, all the while building meaningful friendship. Training and support is provided. 6 month commitment required.
