A drunken man was fetched out of the Hudson River Friday night after he jumped in to try and swim to the Intrepid Sea Air & Space Museum. [via Gothamist]

Firefighters rescued the 65-year-old man about 50 feet from shore, helping him climb a ladder to safety. A fire department source told the Daily News the man was evidently intoxicated, and that  "...instead of paying for admission and going on board, he decided to jump in the water."

The Intrepid is on Pier 86 at 12th Avenue and 46th Street.

The man was taken to Roosevelt Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
