Playing In The Sand
Playing In The Sand 2018-05-20 18:17:53

By Marcus Austin, Ourtown National News Editor

Everybody loves playing in the sand as kids, but some people refuse to kick sand and find other interest. However, Tod"jai Ross  decided that the sand pit would not only be her play pit, but also a place where she can dominate her competition in track and field. The name of the track and field league that she performs in is called Kansas City Elite Group. Her track teams name is KC Elite.

Saturday ,May 19th at Grandview high school, that dominance was on display. She won the girls long jump. Her personal best is 16.5.  She also won the 100 meter dash with a blistering time of 13.67.  To cap the day off she took 3rd in the 400 meter dash.  The amazing thing about her accomplishments is that she is only 14 years old,in the 8th grade. The Missouri girls 100 meter high school  record is held by Anglerne Annelus at 11.64 of Grandview High School in 2015.

Not only does Tod"jai excel in track but the multi-talented musician ia a singer, gymnast and a straight "A" student who aspires to get a full ride scholarship to college. When asked does she have a boyfriend, Tod'jai replied "No, because I don't have time for the distractions." It sounds to me that she has her head on straight and does not need any distractions between her and the finish line.

Chad Livsey
Keeping your city clean 2018-05-20 22:08:39

By Marcus Austin, Ourtown National News Editor

Chad Greene Livsey of Snellville Georgia was given an award by the city council of Gwinette county for picking upover  200 bags of trash in the community. Chad is the grandson of Thomas Livsey Sr. whom is affectionately called "The mayor of the Promised Land."  The Promised Land is an hostorical community in Gwinette county, known for housing the largest of the 13 plantation homes to survive the civil war and General Sherman's March to the sea.

Thomas Livsey Sr started the tradition but since he is getting older, Chad decided to carry on the tradition.  When he was called to the council meeting he thought he was there to lead the pledge of allegiance, but instead he was given a standing ovation and 8 street signs in the community denoting "The Chad Livsey Project "

This is one tradition that I hope spreads throughout the country.

Twin Cousin Wins Again 2018-07-22 15:43:16
By Marcus Austin, National Ourtown News Editor Have you ever had that older sibling or cousin that was a little bit older than you and a little bit better than you at most stuff? Well me too. But did it ever stop you from competing? Well me neither. In my case it was my "Twin cousin," Tommy as he called us. His name is Thomas Livsey Jr. He was a little bigger, faster, better talker, more handsome, ok I'll stop there before I have no ego left. Although Tommy lived in Atlanta and I live in Kansas City, we shared many of the same experiences in life. We both worked at U.P.S. we both were mortgage brokers and both businessmen. Tommy ran the family restraunt and construction business and I owned 3 dry cleaners. As fate would have it we both enjoyed writing and became Ourtown.com news editors as I continued to chase Tommy. But now I have to give it to my now deceased cousin. The Anderson Livsey Elementary school, named in his families honor, honored Tommy in their yearbook by putting his obituary in the yearbook. Where do they do that at? Ok twin cousin, you win again.
