EAGLE SCOUT COURT OF HONOR

From CinciPulse - The Pulse of the City

U.S. Senator, Rob Portman, presented the Honoree award during the Eagle Scout Court of Honor¬ ceremony on Saturday, February 7 at The Cincinnati Masonic Center. To celebrate his commitment to Scouting, John Steele Sr. --Vice Chairman of Hilltop Basic Resources, Inc. and Life Scout -- was recognized as the Honoree.

John Steele Sr. has served as Chairman or President of the following community organizations:  Salvation Army Advisory Board, Cincinnati Art Museum, Art Academy of Cincinnati, and Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum.  In addition, he served as a Board member of many other organizations, including the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, Edgecliff College, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati, and the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing.  He was one of three people to receive the 1998 Spirit of Construction Award presented by the construction industry of Greater Cincinnati.

The Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America also recognized over 300 local Eagle Scouts and awarded the 2014 Eagle Scout Project of the Year at the event. The Eagle Scout Award is the highest rank a Scout can attain. It represents many years of dedicated effort, and the successful completion of a long process that starts when the young man becomes a Boy Scout. It is a demonstration of how people, working together, can truly help mold a young man with a solid sense of leadership, citizenship, and responsibility. It is a great achievement for all involved: the Scout, his family, his community, his unit, and the Boy Scouts of America.
