Xavier University and the Atlantic 10 Conference announced XU’s home and away A-10 opponents for the 2012-13 season. Ten of Xavier’s 16 A-10 games will be against teams that earned spots in 2012 postseason play, including six of the eight home opponents.
Xavier’s home Atlantic 10 Conference slate includes new A-10 member VCU (NCAA), Temple (NCAA), Saint Louis (NCAA), Dayton (NIT), Fordham, George Washington, La Salle (NIT) and Massachusetts (NIT).
Xavier’s road A-10 schedule includes new A-10 member Butler (CBI), Charlotte, Dayton (NIT), Duquesne, Rhode Island, Richmond, Saint Bonaventure (NCAA) and Saint Joseph’s (NIT).
Xavier and Dayton will be partners and will play games at Xavier and at Dayton for the 2012-13 season. UD is the only team that Xavier will play twice in A-10 conference action this season.
New A-10 member Butler was the NCAA National Runner-up in 2010 and 2011, while the other new member VCU made the 2011 NCAA Final Four.
In addition, Xavier confirmed that its previously-announced contest with Butler (CBI) will be played as a non-conference game on Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. as part of ESPN’s College Hoops Tip-off Marathon. Xavier’s impressive 2012-13 home slate also includes non-conference games against Memphis (NCAA) and Vanderbilt (NCAA). The complete 2012-13 home and away non-conference schedule will be announced at a later date. Xavier and Butler will not play each other in the 2013-14 ESPN’s College Hoops Tip-off Marathon as previously announced .
