Husband-and-wife team, Paul and Linh Nguyen, will open a dry cleaning business December 1st in the 1300 block of Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine. The service business is located next to Capital Shoe Repair and Ionic Collective, a consumer marketing company. These businesses occupy the ground-floor commercial space of Trinity Flats, home to twenty-five one and two bedroom condominiums. Just north of Trinity Flats, the “for lease” sign on an old renovated post office building has attracted the attention of several hopeful restaurateurs.
Paul and Linh Nguyen (pronounced “win”) see opportunity in the growing number of people both living and working in the area. “I have been watching this neighborhood since 2000,” said Paul, “and have wanted to help turn the area around.” His contribution, On the Run Cleaners, will be open Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The two hope to eventually add a delivery service to the business.
Paul was born and raised in Cincinnati. His wife, Linh, grew up in Indianapolis. The two recently married this past August and now live in Over-the-Rhine. Linh will manage the new business, as Paul has another “9-5” job.
Since 2004, 3CDC-led developments in Over-the-Rhine have resulted in investments totaling $162 million. These investments have created 186 condominiums (82% sold or under contract), 68 rental units (100% leased), and over 91,000 square feet of commercial space (68% leased) as well as the $48 million expansion and renovation of Washington Park.
The northern progression up Vine Street from Central Parkway continues to attract new residents, businesses and retailers. On the Run Cleaners joins new tenants such as Abigail Street, Taste of Belgium, A Tavola, Tyger Calloway, Sloane Boutique & Cincy Haus, all of which have opened in the past year. Look for new restaurants Bakersfield Taco Grill and 1215 Wine & Coffee Bar to open in the first part of 2012. All these join already established Vine Street tenants in Over-the-Rhine: Lavomatic, Senate, Joseph William Home, MiCa 12/v, Little Mahatma, Switch, Incredible Creations, Mannequin and Capital Shoe Repair.
