VALENTINE GIFT SUGGESTIONS

From CinciPulse - The Pulse of the City

Sunday is Valentine’s Day, men, in case it has slipped your mind. Have you decided how you are going to make the day “special” for your Valentine?   This is a tough holiday, what’s too little? What’s too much? If I don’t give her candy will she think I think she’s too fat.   Do I send flowers to the office, or will that just embarrass her? Is dinner the ticket, or does that just mean a hassle getting a babysitter?   I feel a little sorry for all of you guys out there, because there is probably no right answer for all the ladies, but there is definitely a wrong answer…doing nothing is not an option.   Every woman wants to be remembered on Valentine’s Day. The right gift is the one that shows you put a little thought into the occasion. Don’t give candy if she has given it up for Lent or if she is trying to take off a few pounds. Don’t send flowers if she has an allergy, and never, ever buy something with an electrical cord attached. Valentine’s Day is no time to treat your wife to that new crock pot.   Here are some ideas for the small and large budget.   1)                   A single rose and an offer to babysit for a night while she goes out for dinner with her girlfriends. 2)                   Arranging for a babysitter and taking her out to dinner, but not at Applebee’s. Take her someplace where the menu doesn’t wipe off with a damp cloth. 3)                   A Day at the Spa or a manicure and pedicure (Beck’s Salon on 4th Street has gift cards). 4)                   Something she can show to her friends is always a good idea. How about a Pandora bracelet. You can get her started for about $100-$150. Not only do you have a special gift with a charm that reflects something special in your lives, but you can now add charms for other “special occasions” and your gift giving problems will be taken care of for a while. You can see a picture of my Pandora bracelet here. They are available at many jewelry stores around town. I got mine at Jared’s, but I know they also have them at Hannoush. 5)                   Anything from “COACH” always works. 6)                   Sometimes that special gift is just doing something that you hate, just because she likes to do it…like going shopping with her (wearing a smile of course), or two tickets to a musical at the Aronoff.  7)                   How about making breakfast this Sunday morning (and don’t forget the clean-up).   Good luck with your gift shopping guys and Happy Valentine’s Day.
